Our Aladdin performances on Feb 11 and 12 were very successful. Seven hundred people saw it! We performed for family and friends, as well as the general public who bought tickets after seeing an ad in the newspaper or receiving a flyer from one of our students. A big"Thank you" to all who helped make that possible.
Also, as some of you may know, we received a grant from NY State to help with the cost of the performance. To our delighted surprise, after some of their members attended the show, we received a letter from the Huntington Arts Council telling us how much they enjoyed the ballet and that they were going to award us EXTRA money! A quote from the letter they sent me said "The Decentralization Panel selected applicants based on review criteria stipulated by New York State Council of the Arts that provided unique, innovative and quality art programming to their communities. As a recipient of additional funding, view this as an incentive to continue the positive work that you do.We encourage you to strive for excellence as your organization moves forward." We are so grateful and proud of the encouragement that we received from NY State. Extra thanks to Osamu for his wonderful creative work.
Lastly, I hope that you all understand what being in our shows does for your child. Dancing alongside professional dancers, and seeing a full length ballet put together from the beginning, is such a unique, memorable opportunity that she will take with her. And I hope that you are just as proud as we are to bring this wonderful art to Long Island.

Welcome to the Great Neck School of Dance
Long Island’s Premier Classical Ballet School

The Great School of Dance is proud to have served Great Neck and the North Shore of Long Island for 30 years as one of Long Island’s premier ballet schools. Ours aims are to encourage the love of classical ballet in the community at large, to introduce children to the wonderful discipline of classical ballet training with all its benefits of grace, coordination, posture, flexibility and music appreciation and to provide the highest quality classical ballet training for the aspiring dancer. In return for care and attention, which our esteemed faculty gives to each child, we expect from each student the very best effort of which he or she is capable.

"The discipline of dance gives all who practice it humility before the ideal of perfection."
